Sophie Labandibar

Sophie Labandibar is accompanist at the “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique” of Lyon in the class of Philippe Bernold, and at the Essen “Folkwang Hochschule” where she accompanies the class of YOUNG-Chang Cho . She is laureate of the “Meyer Foundation” and of the “Dr. Karl Doerken Stiftung”. She regurlarly performs in festivals such as “La Roque d’Anthéron”, “Festival de Prades”, the “Printemps musical” of Saint-Jean de Luz, the “Cellofest” in Belgrade, the “Festival Radio France” in Montpellier..


She was born in Biarritz in 1982. She started the piano when she was only 3 with Ada Labèque. Aged 14 she attends the “Concervatoire National Supérieur de Musique” of Paris where she studies with Alain Planès and Emmanuel Strosser. After graduating in piano and in chamber music, she continues her studies at the Essen “Folkwang Hochschüle”, when she had oppurtunities to play with Vladimir Mendelssohn, Andreas Reiner, Young-Chang Cho and Christian Ivaldi. In 2004 she goes back to Paris and follows a Master degree for chamber music (cello-piano duet) with Claire Désert and Ami Flammer.
